Lifetime of practice

Deeply influenced by her Buddhist upbringing in San Francisco, CA, Meg had the incredible privilege of being exposed to Tibetan lamas, monks, nuns and yogis from an early age. Spending summers in the Santa Cruz mountains among new age spiritual seekers, steeped in meditation and mantra, some of Meg’s earliest memories include practicing vrksasana and savasana.

While serving a term with AmeriCorps, after a year abroad teaching English in Thailand, Meg got serious about her Yoga practice and soon realized that she didn't want to teach English, deciding instead to pursue Yoga with the intention to teach. Meg graduated from the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco in 2015, and has been teaching Yoga ever since. Her biggest teaching influence is Judith Hanson Lasater, whom she worked for as a personal assistant for several years. With Judith’s guidance, Meg deepened her understanding of asana, anatomy, relaxation practices, philosophy, communication, touch, pranayama, and so much more. Meg continues to support Judith in the classroom as a senior assistant.

Curious to understand the healing benefits of diet and nutrition and to overcome her own disordered eating habbits, Meg enrolled at Bauman College. Graduating with a Nutrition Consulting certificate in 2019.

With a desire to learn more about the body and nervous system, Meg completed a 600 hour massage therapy course at the San Francisco School of Massage & Bodywork, graduating in 2024. Her time at SFSM introduced her to the profound healing of energy work leading her become a Reiki Master. Additionally, she holds a personal training certification from the American Council of Exercise (ACE), and a B.A. in English Literature from San Francisco State University.

Meg is thrilled to open her practice, Mai Bodywork, combining her decades of commitment to spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing. Uniquely poised to provide a holistic experience for clients, Meg believes healing happens while having an authentic connection with an authentic human being. Join us!
